Last November I took part in TEDxBristol, the largest independently organised event of its kind in the south-west, bringing together talks on topics from technology to science, culture and everything inbetween. Over the course of the conference I was given an insight into running audience engagement and public relations communications for a large scale event and its social media presence.
My role concerned producing multimedia digital content for Facebook, working in liaison with individual platform curators and other creators, as part of a larger social media team, in collaboration with a local guerrilla marketing and communications company called OggaDoon.
My experience gave me an insight into PR coverage for large-scale live events, while working to continuous deadlines in a fast paced environment. Personal highlights had to be Jess Ratty on crowdsourcing and Bath Spa’s own Katie Pullinger on her Letter to an Unknown Soldier digital memorial.
